Minor impositions can be so charming. Asking someone for a stick of gum, ibuprofen, or a word of advice is the best way to speed up the relationship. Also lending out money when you know they’ll pay you back soon. Or asking someone to wake up at an ungodly hour to drop you off/pick you up at the airport. Another good one is when your parents call when your hands are full or dirty and your friend answers the phone and chats for a couple minutes while the mess is dealt with. Or asking someone who is already at the grocery store to pick up some milk for you. Giving out keys to your apartment “just in case” could be the sweetest of them all (Courtney).
